Originating with antique ceramic miniatures, I have cast and transformed four variations of arm gestures into wearable jewelry. The articulations of these symbolic bodily forms create a surreal arena for commentary on our innate need for human communication.
The arm and hand as a part of the body are often used to accentuate our words thoughts and emotions. In this series, I tap into these moments; a bracelet holding the wrist, a ring extending from the hand, earrings cascading down the neck. Each a delicate touch of reaching out in attempts to connect with each other, with the body, and with the viewer. These snapshots of bodily discourse engage our relationships in order to contemplate our own forms of communication.
Each piece of jewelry creates its own unique moment when worn and as a solitary object. The forms articulate an experience, highlighting both how we express ourselves and connect with each other through physicality.
